- fight; compete

Example: Our games against Seattle are always great. We battle so hard because we really want to win.


NCAA tournament (n.)
- national college basketball tournament

Example: The finals of the NCAA tournament will be in Atlanta this year.


March Madness (expression)
- an fun expression for the NCAA tournament

Example: March Madness begins in two weeks. I wonder who will win!


non-stop (adj.)
- always going; never stopping

Example: Today was very busy at the office. I worked non-stop for 10 hours straight.


something like (adj.)
- about; approximately

Example: There were something like 25 cars in the race.


picks (n.)
- choices; the ones you choose

Example: My picks for the Oscars this year are Beautiful Mind and Lord of the Rings.


at heart (expression)
- have an emotional tie; feel very close to

Example: I live in America, but I'm Korean at heart.


going with (v.)
- choosing; picking

Example: I'm going with Tyson to win the fight tonight. He's so tough!


copy cat (n.)
- someone who imitates others; someone who does the same thing as others

Example: Jeff is such a copy cat. If I go to the gym, he goes to the gym.


upset (expression)
- when a big team gets beaten by a small team

Example: The game was great last night. The best team in the country got upset by a small school. I love it when that happens.


jump on the bandwagon (expression)
- do the same thing as everyone else; follow what most people do

Example: Many people say Beautiful Mind is the best movie this year. I liked it, but I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon. I thought Lord of the Rings was much better.


Cinderella (adj.)
- a team from a small school who wins

Example: The cinderella in this year's tournament is Kent State. They are a small school, but they are beating bigger schools. It's so cool.


big name (int.)
- famous name; well-known

Example: Duke is a big name school. Everyone expects them to win every year.


Duck (n.)
- the mascot for the University of Oregon

Example: Even though our mascot is a Duck, we're very tough.
