CHILD:

Is that all the fireworks?

 

 

これで花火は全部?

 

WAYNE:

No, no. There will be more. They are getting ready. All the big ones come later.

 

 

いやいや。まだあるよ。準備しているんだ。大きい花火はみんな後でやるんだ。

 

CHILD:

I can't wait.

 

 

待ちきれないよ。

 

WAYNE:

Sure you can. Are you having a good time?

 

 

待てるさ。楽しんでいる?

 

CHILD:

Yes. May I have something to eat?

 

 

うん。何か食べてもいい?

 

CARRIE:

I have some sandwiches. Would you like one?

 

 

サンドイッチがあるわ。ひとつ食べる?

 

CHILD:

OK.

 

 

うん。

 

CARRIE:

Martin, would you like a sandwich?

 

 

マーティン、サンドイッチはいかがですか?

 

MARTIN:

Sure, thanks. Do you always bring sandwiches to the fireworks?

WAYNE:

She takes sandwiches everywhere.

CARRIE:

It seems to make you happy. Would you like one?

WAYNE:

Of course. Thanks.

MARTIN:

I feel wonderful. It makes me feel good to see a community doing something together.

WAYNE:

I know what you mean.

MARTIN:

It looks like they enjoy one another. They look happy.

CARRIE:

We are. We've lived here for ten years. Before we came here, it seemed like a nice town. Now, I know people enjoy one another. They like living here.

 

 

うれしいです。私たちはここに10年前から住んでいます。ここに来る前、この町は良い町に思えました。今、人々がお互いに楽しんでいることがわかります。人々はここに住むのが好きなのです。

 

MARTIN:

It seems a good place to live.

 

 

住むにはいいところのようですね。

 

WAYNE:

Very good. Of course, I don't like big cities. I like small towns.

 

 

とてもいいところですよ。もちろん、私は大都会が嫌いです。小さな町が好きです。

 

MARTIN:

What about your children? Do they enjoy it? Are they happy?

 

 

子供たちはどうですか?彼らは楽しんでいますか?幸せですか?

 

CARRIE:

They have never lived anywhere else. They seem fine. They have lots of friends. They can go anywhere in town. They have a good school.

 

 

子供たちは他のところで暮したことがありません。上手くやっているようです。友達がたくさんいます。町のどこへでも行くことができます。良い学校があります。

 

CHILD:

Daddy, when are they going to begin?

 

 

おとうさん、(花火は)いつ始まるのかしら。

 

WAYNE:

Any time now.

CARRIE:

I think they are going to begin now.

 

 

もう始まると思うわ。

 

WAYNE:

I told you. Wasn't that nice?

CARRIE:

That seemed bigger and louder.

CHILD:

It was.

WAYNE:

Come over here and sit beside me. Mr. Learner can't see with you in front.

MARTIN:

That's fine. I'm happy.

CHILD:

Are you having a good time?

MARTIN:

I'm having a very good time. I like fireworks.

MARTIN:

You look happy. Do you like fireworks?

CHILD:

Oh, yes! I'm having the best time!

 

 

ええ、好きよ!一番楽しいわ!

 

CARRIE:

Martin, would you like something to drink? I have tea and soft drinks.

 

 

マーティン、何か飲み物はいかがですか?紅茶と清涼飲料があります。

 

MARTIN:

No thanks.

CHILD:

May I have a drink?

CARRIE:

Yes. Here.

CARRIE:

You're welcome. Wayne, you look very tired. Do you want to go home?

CHILD:

Oh, no. It's not finished.

 

 

えー、いや。終わっていないもの。

 

WAYNE:

I feel fine. I'm tired, but let's wait until the fireworks are finished.

 

 

気分はいいよ。疲れているけれど、花火が終わるまで待とうよ。

 

CARRIE:

It's almost finished. Look down there, children.

 

 

もうすぐ終わりよ。子供たち、下を見て。

 

MARTIN:

It seems it's about finished. They are lighting several things at one time. Look.

 

 

もう終わるようですね。いくつかに一度に火をつけている。見て。

 

WAYNE:

There it goes!

 

 

ほら行くよ!

 

WAYNE:

That's really the end now. Let's go home.
